5 Scary Films Suggested by Stephen King in 2025

Apart from his critiques of Trump, Stephen King frequently utilizes his social media channels to suggest TV shows, books, and films.

2025 was no different. Throughout the last year, the author has offered recommendations across various genres, but the genre he repeatedly returned to—unsurprisingly—was horror, his preferred domain.

Here are five films he spotlighted this year.

Abraham’s Boys

“I really liked ABRAHAM’S BOYS, inspired by the tale by Joe Hill and featuring Titus Welliver (BOSCH),” King mentioned on Threads. “It’s quite a creepfest. You’ll see it soon, perhaps check out Shudder?”

Abraham’s Boys is available for streaming on Shudder.

Killing Faith

“A semi-supernatural Western that resonates with the works of Cormac McCarthy,” King wrote. “The opening scene, featuring a child and a horse, is genuinely shocking.”

Killing Faith can be rented or purchased on Prime Video.

The Monkey

“You’ve never experienced anything like THE MONKEY. It’s absolutely bonkers,” King shared on Threads. “As someone who has embraced craziness occasionally, I say that with respect.”

The Monkey is available for streaming on Hulu.

Together

“Dave Franco and Alison Brie are fantastic—and courageous—in TOGETHER,” King tweeted on X (formerly Twitter). “Horror films succeed when you connect to the characters. This one succeeds.”

Together can be rented or bought on Prime Video.

Weapons

“WEAPONS: Told with confidence, and really frightening,” King posted on X. “I loved it.”

Weapons is available for streaming on HBO Max.
