Frightening Extraterrestrial: Earth Teaser Reveals Fresh, Dreadful Beasts

If you’re looking for a peaceful night’s slumber, it’s wise to steer clear of the trailer for FX’s Alien: Earth. However, if grotesque science fiction and fascinating new creatures appeal to you, you’ve found the right spot.

Crafted by Noah Hawley, the Emmy-winning creator of Fargo and Legion, this prequel to Alien doesn’t trek through distant galaxies. Instead, it brings extraterrestrial horror to our planet.

The terror commences when a Weyland-Yutani deep-space research vessel descends in Prodigy city, named after the Prodigy Corporation. Prodigy CEO Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) opts to seize whatever treasures lie within the wreck, sending a battalion of soldiers to evaluate the ruins.

These soldiers are unique; they’re hybrids—humanoid machines infused with human consciousness. This sets them apart from the synthetics in the Alien films, which are robots with artificial awareness.

Prodigy’s hybrid unit might be quicker, stronger, and more durable than standard humans, yet they confront a daunting challenge as they investigate the downed USCSS Maginot. As the Alien: Earth trailer indicates, the Maginot housed five monstrous life forms from various corners of the cosmos. They have now broken free, posing a serious threat to Earth.

The Alien: Earth trailer offers limited insight into its alien adversaries, but it provides enough glimpses to send shivers down your spine. Tentacled eyes, egg sacs, and slime are plentiful, alongside fleeting images of the famed Xenomorph.

Produced by Alien director Ridley Scott, Alien: Earth also features Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El, and Sanda Yi Sencindiver.

Alien: Earth debuts on Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Hulu and FX.
