The Most Neglected Switch 2 Release Title is Priced at Just $15

The Nintendo Switch 2 debuted this week, and although Mario Kart World is the standout, there’s another launch title that merits recognition. Fast Fusion, created by Shin’en, is the third installment in a franchise that started with Fast Racing Neo on the Wii U, followed by Fast RMX on the original Switch, and now highlights the capabilities of the Switch 2. Even with its understated profile, I’ve had a great time with all three titles in the series.

Fast Fusion is available for just $15, making it a budget-friendly option for gamers. This futuristic sci-fi arcade racer evokes memories of the beloved games from my youth, akin to F-Zero, which Nintendo hasn’t yet brought back. Fast Fusion delivers exhilarating speed, featuring precise and responsive vehicle management that keeps you on the brink of control. A standout element is the ability to execute a high vertical leap, beneficial for gathering items that replenish your boost meter.

A returning element is the color-switching capability, allowing your car to change between blue and orange to align with boost pads scattered along the track, introducing a strategic dimension to the gameplay. New to Fusion is a fusion system that permits players to merge two vehicles for improved stats, though its effect on gameplay is yet to be determined.

Fast Fusion accommodates split-screen local multiplayer, while online interaction is restricted to the GameShare feature on Switch 2, enabling one user to share the game with friends remotely. Though standard online matchmaking is missing, the game can be purchased for $14.99 at Nintendo, GameStop, and Best Buy. Despite its modest cost, Fast Fusion ensures an enjoyable experience worth checking out alongside Mario Kart World.
