Nintendo Switch 2 Restock Monitor: Keep an Eye on Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Costco, and Others

The launch day for the Nintendo Switch 2 has come and gone, and individuals who managed to secure a console are now diving into Mario Kart World and various other launch games.

Beginning June 5, gamers were able to purchase the Switch 2 console for $449.99 and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle for $499.99—if they could locate it in stock. Costco had supplies on June 5, while Target started selling its stock online on June 6, but currently, it’s out of stock at all retailers. GameStop and Staples at least provide tools to verify stock availability at local stores.

So, where can you purchase the Switch 2 online? Look for Switch 2 stock at the My Nintendo Store and authorized Nintendo retailers, and refresh the page as if it’s your first round in Super Smash Bros.

All options for buying the Switch 2 online

To prevent stockpiling and reselling, Nintendo and retailers are restricting orders per customer. You will need to create an account to successfully place an order. We also suggest checking our recommendations for tracking restocks, and in the interim, try all the links below.

Order from Nintendo

You can’t just navigate to the My Nintendo Store to buy the Switch 2. To place an order, you must log in with an active, paid Nintendo Switch Online account. Once logged in, you can select either a Switch 2 standalone console or the Mario Kart World bundle and then click the confirm button to “register your interest” in ordering a Switch 2.

Now for the peculiar requirements. Only Switch Online members who have subscribed for at least 12 months and logged a minimum of 50 hours of gameplay on their Switch consoles are eligible to buy through Nintendo. In other words, you must be a dedicated Switch gamer if you wish to purchase the Switch 2 through this method. If you qualify and follow these instructions, keep an eye on your email for an invitation link.

How to order the Switch 2 at Walmart

In contrast to Nintendo, acquiring the Switch 2 online from Walmart is quite straightforward. Technically, Walmart customers have been able to preorder Switch 2 consoles on Walmart’s website since midnight ET on April 24. In reality, the console has consistently been sold out. Our recommendation? Visit the Walmart Switch 2 page a few times each day and refresh the page.

We will update this article as soon as we discover Switch 2 consoles in stock at Walmart (or elsewhere). Walmart also offers numerous Switch 2 launch titles and accessories.

How to buy the Switch 2 at Target

Target stores operated normally on launch day, and according to a press announcement, Switch 2 hopefuls were directed to a “designated queuing location” near the entrance. Target employees reportedly distributed reservation tickets to a fortunate few. Buyers were then escorted to the electronics section, where they could finally purchase either the Switch 2 or a Switch 2 bundle.

How to buy Switch 2 at GameStop

GameStop is the one retailer among the four mentioned here that is taking a slightly different approach. If you were fortunate enough to secure a GameStop preorder, you could collect your console at midnight on June 5. GameStop stores also hosted midnight launch events (though available units were limited), and gamers can visit GameStop locations to engage in a “Transfer and Trade,” where they can trade in their original Switch and move their data to the new console.

You can also try your luck online or sign up for notifications when new stock becomes available. You can also purchase Switch 2 games and accessories at GameStop, including those essential MicroSD Express cards.
