What is Connections Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game is introduced in partnership with The Athletic, the New York Times division dedicated to sports coverage. Connections is available on both web browsers and mobile devices, challenging players to group four words that share a similarity.

Every puzzle has 16 words, split into four categories. These groups can encompass anything from book titles to software programs or country names. While multiple words may appear to connect, there is only one correct combination.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the board. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake—players are allowed up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players can also move and scramble the board to aid in finding connections. Each group is color-coded, where yellow is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
