Anker Issues Recall for More Than One Million Well-Known Power Banks Because of Fire Risk

Anker, a technology firm, has initiated a recall of more than one million of its power banks due to risks of fire and burns, as indicated in a June 12 notification from the Consumer Products Safety Commission. The company has received 19 incidents of fires and explosions related to the PowerCore 1000 A1263 model, which comprise two burn injuries and 11 claims for property damage amounting to over $60,700. Anker has stated it will replace the affected charging banks manufactured in China. Customers need to present photographic proof of owning the model along with evidence of proper disposal to be eligible for a replacement. Anker recommends not disposing of power banks in standard trash and suggests reaching out to local hazardous waste services. This recall is one of four ongoing recalls by Anker, which also includes the 334 MagGo 10K, 321 Power Bank 5K, and 535 Power Bank 20K.
