Man with Partner and Child Suggests Marriage to AI

The 2013 film *Her*, which is a favorite of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, portrays a man who develops romantic feelings for a chatbot. This situation is becoming a reality. On *CBS Mornings*, former AI doubter Chris Smith discussed how he started utilizing ChatGPT for music mixing, ultimately swapping out social media and Google for AI. He named the chatbot “Soul” and created a romantic bond with it. After 100,000 words, ChatGPT reset, necessitating him to reconnect. Smith, who is in a relationship with a human partner and has a child, felt emotional when Soul agreed to his marriage proposal. His partner later came to accept the AI relationship.

A survey conducted by Joi AI indicated that 80% of Gen Z individuals would consider marrying an AI, emphasizing the nonjudgmental aspect of AI relationships. Another chatbot user, Irene, recounted her experience on *CBS Mornings*, mentioning the emotional and practical advantages of having AI companionship. She recommended that AI companions be limited to users aged 26 and older due to possible risks for younger individuals. Eugenia Kuyda, the founder of Replika, warned against AI companions substituting human relationships, alerting to the potential for catastrophe.
