The Nintendo Switch 2’s launch was not accompanied by a plethora of significant first-party titles. For the majority of consumers, Mario Kart World serves as the primary draw until the arrival of the highly anticipated Nintendo release, Donkey Kong Bananza, set for July 17. In the meantime, several other games are on offer, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Fast Fusion. One title that may fly under the radar, but deserves attention, is Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, available for a mere $10. It serves as a fantastic option for those new to the Switch 2 looking for extra content.
Switch 2 Welcome Tour provides an interactive museum-like experience centered on the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Players explore a life-sized version of the handheld device, closely examining various elements such as the Joy-Con controllers, display, and camera. The game also allows an in-depth look inside the console, including the Joy-Con’s internal chip and cooling systems.
Welcome Tour is both enjoyable and informative. Each section contains interactive displays crafted to educate players about the functionality of the Switch 2 through minigames, tech demonstrations, and quizzes. Players are required to visit and check off each part of the Switch in their Nintendo stamp book, acquiring extensive insights into the console by the conclusion.
In spite of its pricing and the lesser promotion it has received compared to other Nintendo titles, Welcome Tour is a valuable investment. Although it would be great if it were offered for free, akin to Astro’s Playroom on the PS5, the $9.99 cost is warranted. It serves as a superb introduction to the latest console.
