Trump Declares TikTok Buyer Obtained

President Donald Trump claims he has identified a purchaser for TikTok, ensuring the application stays available to American users, although additional procedures are required to complete the transaction. In a Fox News interview concerning international tariffs, Trump stated that prolonging the suspension of tariffs or the TikTok ban would be “no big deal.” Previously, he postponed the TikTok ban for a third occasion, issuing an order to delay enforcement until Sept. 17, following earlier postponements in January and April.

“We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way,” Trump declared on Fox News, further noting that he may require approval from China, which he believes President Xi Jinping will provide. He did not reveal the buyer’s name, merely referring to them as “very wealthy people,” which corresponds with TikTok’s U.S. operations being appraised in the tens of billions of dollars.

Trump vowed to disclose the buyer in two weeks, though such declarations are frequently regarded with doubt, as he often pledges information “in about two weeks.” Potential purchasers have included Oracle and YouTuber MrBeast, and Trump even hinted that the U.S. government might invest in TikTok, asserting he is negotiating a deal to keep the app accessible.

Nevertheless, Trump’s initiatives have yet to bear fruit, complicated by tariffs on China, which reportedly obstructed the Chinese government’s consent for a TikTok sale. The U.S. TikTok ban was originally slated for Jan. 19, a day prior to Trump’s inauguration, but the preceding Biden administration did not act on it, and one of Trump’s initial moves was to instate a delay.
