Glen Powell Hinted at in Stephen King’s Horrific Gameshow, The Running Man

This year is shaping up to be yet another fantastic one for adaptations of Stephen King’s works, particularly those penned under his pseudonym. Recently, the trailer for “The Long Walk” was unveiled, and now we have one for Edgar Wright’s take on “The Running Man” — both early pieces by King published under the name Richard Bachman, featured in “The Bachman Books.”

Set in a bleak future where destitute individuals are compelled to compete in lethal gameshows for cash, “The Running Man” stars Glen Powell as a participant. “The rules are straightforward,” states Josh Brolin’s voiceover in the trailer. “Survive 30 days with the whole country pursuing you.”

As one of the narratives that shaped subsequent dystopian survival thrillers, it will be fascinating to witness Wright’s rendition of this classic, which was previously adapted in 1987 featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“The Running Man” hit theaters on Nov. 7.
