Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang famously remarked, “you are not going to lose your job to an AI, but you are going to lose your job to someone who utilizes AI.” Whether his assertion holds true or not, AI presents a multitude of powerful tools to enhance productivity in the workplace. It can also support job searches, offering a competitive advantage in the employment market.

Searching for a job includes several stages, such as crafting a resume, locating job openings, composing cover letters, and preparing for interviews. While some tasks are best handled personally—given that some companies may dismiss AI-generated cover letters—AI can help you draft cover letters if you encounter writer’s block.

AI can be leveraged in nearly all other aspects of the job search journey. Here are some helpful tools to kickstart your efforts.

**AI Resume Builders**

Developing a resume is the initial step. As a freelancer, I always have one prepared, and they can be monotonous to craft. Thankfully, AI can provide assistance. My resume was designed by AI, and as shown by this article, I’m receiving work. Among all AI tools, utilizing AI to establish your resume is highly advised because it is straightforward, unobtrusive, and companies typically do not object if AI produced your resume.

AI resume builders function in two ways. They allow you to enter all your information in a single location, and the AI formulates the resume, thus saving you time. Additionally, you may need to customize your resume for particular jobs, which entails creating multiple versions—also saving time.

Many tools are at your disposal, but my favorites are Canva’s AI resume builder and KickResume. Both provide free options, can create resumes using your LinkedIn profile, and feature appealing templates. I prefer KickResume for its extra tools like cover letter assistance, but Canva has more attractive templates. You can opt for either or both.

**AI Job Interview Prep**

Securing a job isn’t solely about applying with a polished resume and cover letter; you also need to excel in interviews. AI tools like Interviewsby.ai and Huru can assist. These platforms generate questions based on the position you are targeting, which you answer verbally. After submission, AI offers feedback to enhance your responses.

ChatGPT provides a similar service. It’s a handy tool if you’re already using ChatGPT or favor a well-known enterprise. It conducts interviews and gives feedback for improvement. Even if you do not concentrate on the feedback, the AI-generated questions effectively replicate actual interview queries.

**Hiring.cafe**

Hiring.cafe is an AI-enhanced job search platform, akin to conventional job search websites like Indeed and Monster. It’s a comprehensive job board where you can seek jobs using multiple criteria. Numerous filters are available, including experience, commitment, salary, certifications, and scheduling preferences.

The platform employs AI to comb through “millions of (ghost) jobs directly from company websites each day.” It utilizes ChatGPT’s API to extract information from postings, powering its extensive filters. You can apply to jobs, save them, and mark jobs as “applied” to exclude them from future searches and recommendations.

**JobCopilot**

JobCopilot is an automated job application tool. You specify the types of jobs you’re looking for by uploading your resume and answering questions. The platform then searches for jobs, and you select the ones you prefer, with the site applying on your behalf. JobCopilot scans over 300,000 company career pages, significantly more than a human could handle alone.

The concept is straightforward: by applying to numerous jobs, you enhance your chances of landing an interview. According to JobCopilot, the average candidate must apply to 50-100 jobs to secure one interview, a challenge JobCopilot aims to resolve. While we lack metrics on its effectiveness, having a tool casting a wide net on your behalf is advantageous.

**Sonara**

Sonara directly competes with JobCopilot, offering comparable services. You upload your resume, answer a few questions, and the platform identifies appropriate jobs. It then submits your resume and applies for positions on your behalf. Like JobCopilot, you decide which jobs interest you, and the site automatically sends your resume or completes the application process.

Sonara is less clear about its data sources but likely scrubs similar websites as JobCopilot. We found Sonara easier to navigate initially, but both platforms operate equally well. You can select either or use both.

**Wobo.ai**

Wobo.ai is often recommended on sites like Reddit. It begins in a similar fashion to Sonara and JobCopilot, where you upload a resume and respond to questions to create a “persona.” It then matches you with jobs based on your responses, giving each job a “similarity score” to show how closely you align with the position before reading the description.

Wobo performs the same functions as the other two platforms, applying for jobs automatically using your persona profile. It searches career pages and larger sites like BambooHR, Greenhouse, and Lever. We consider it the most exhaustive, although it requires more initial effort.
