Perplexity Unveils a Max Tier Offered at Competitive Prices Against Competitors

Perplexity has launched a new subscription level, referred to as its “most powerful,” along with a specific pricing structure. Announced by the Nvidia- and Jeff Bezos-supported firm in a blog post on Wednesday, Perplexity Max serves as the upgraded premium choice for the AI search platform. It enhances the existing Perplexity Pro tier and is currently accessible on both iOS and the web application, with Android compatibility expected soon.

Max encompasses all features from Pro, in addition to unlimited access to Labs (an AI tool for quickly producing projects such as reports, presentations, and basic web applications in roughly 10 minutes), early access to new functionalities including the forthcoming Comet agentic search browser, access to sophisticated AI models like Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4 and OpenAI o3-pro, and “priority support” for these advanced models.

Perplexity Max is priced at $200 monthly or $2,000 per year; the preceding tier, Perplexity Pro, is priced at $20 monthly or $200 yearly. This matches the monthly cost of OpenAI’s leading tier, ChatGPT Pro; in comparison, Google’s AI Ultra tier is priced at $249.99 each month.

The company indicates that Perplexity Max is intended for “professionals…content creators…business strategists…and academic researchers.” Users can enhance their subscription by navigating to Settings > Account > Subscription > Upgrade Plan.

Perplexity has recently been in the spotlight, with the BBC considering legal action over claims of unauthorized content usage and reports suggesting that Apple might be contemplating an acquisition of Perplexity.
