What is Connections?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game has turned into a viral sensation on social media. The Times attributes the development of this new word game to associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, who contributed to its inclusion in the publication’s Games section. Connections is accessible on both web browsers and smartphones, requiring players to categorize four words that have something in common.

Each puzzle presents 16 words, and the groupings of words are divided into four categories. These groups may include anything from book titles, software, country names, and more. Even though several words may appear to fit together, there is only one correct combination.

If a player correctly identifies all four words in a set, those words are eliminated from the board. If a wrong guess is made, it counts as an error—players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate the identification of connections. Furthermore, each group is color-coded, with yellow indicating the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends via social media.
