What is Connections Sports Edition?
The NYT‘s newest daily word game is introduced in partnership with The Athletic, the New York Times’ source for sports news. Connections can be played on both web and mobile platforms, requiring players to group four words that share a common connection.

Each puzzle features 16 words segmented into four categories. These categories can encompass anything from book titles to software names or country identities. While many words might appear connected, there is only one accurate answer.
When a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake—participants can make up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players have the ability to rearrange and shuffle the board to uncover connections more conveniently. Moreover, each set is color-coded: yellow for the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, results can be shared with friends through social media.
