What is Connections?

The NYT‘s newest daily word challenge has swiftly turned into a phenomenon on social media. The Times attributes the creation of this innovative word game to associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, who introduced it to the Games section of the publication. Connections is accessible on both web browsers and mobile devices, prompting players to categorize four words that share a common theme.

Each puzzle contains 16 words, organized into four distinct categories. These categories could comprise anything from book titles to software names, country identifiers, and more. While multiple words might appear to connect, there is only one valid answer.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake—players are permitted up to four mistakes before the conclusion of the game.

Participants can also rearrange and shuffle the layout to facilitate the discovery of connections. Furthermore, each grouping is color-coded, with yellow being the simplest, succeeded by green, blue, and purple. Just like Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social platforms.
