Google’s forthcoming Pixel launch event, titled Made By Google, is set for Wednesday, Aug. 20. This occasion is anticipated to unveil the Google Pixel Watch 4 alongside the latest Pixel 10 smartphone range. Pre-orders are expected to commence on the launch day, with wider availability starting Aug. 28.
We have been compiling the newest Pixel 10 leaks and speculations, and recent leaks concerning the Pixel Watch 4 have also surfaced. Here’s what we know so far (based on rumors, conjectures, and purported leaks) regarding Google’s imminent smartwatch and fitness tracker.
It might have a dual-chip configuration and a significantly brighter display
While the primary processor is likely to remain unchanged, the overall configuration is being enhanced. The watch will reportedly combine the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip with a new M55 co-processor. It might also showcase a considerably brighter AMOLED screen with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
You will still have two sizes to select from
The Pixel Watch 4 is expected to be available in two sizes akin to the Pixel Watch 3 series, although leaks indicate that the new versions will feature a thicker watch module and slightly more narrow bezels. The options will likely include a 41mm version (codenamed “Meridian”) and a 45mm version (codenamed “Canari”). Both sizes are anticipated to come in LTE and Wi-Fi-only versions.
Anticipate a full spectrum of color and band choices
A recent leak has disclosed the entire array of expected colors for the watch itself, available for both Wi-Fi and LTE models:
– Black/Obsidian
– Gold/Lemon
– Moonstone
– Silver/Iris
– Silver/Porcelain
An extensive variety of band materials and colors is also expected, including a two-tone leather band in jade, a metal mesh band in matte black and polished silver, and several others in active, woven, and new gradient stretch styles.
If you’re interested in the new Pixel 4’s design, purported leaked renders emerged in April. The watch maintains the iconic circular shape, fitting the new aesthetic of Android 16. Earlier this year, Google demonstrated new animations and features available with Watch OS 6, offering us some perspective on the Pixel Watch 4 experience.
The battery is receiving a (slight) enhancement
Reports indicate that both models will benefit from a battery upgrade. The 41mm version will reportedly sport a 327 mAh battery (a 7 percent increase over the predecessor’s 300 mAh battery), while the 45mm model might see a 9 percent enhancement to 459 mAh. Quicker charging is also anticipated, potentially via a new wireless charging system that operates without magnetic pogo pins.
It’s also rumored to incorporate new health and safety functionalities
Certain reports indicate Google will improve health-tracking features to include an upgraded blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking capability that will operate “continuously,” unlike the current overnight-only variant. This would enable the watch to send alerts when oxygen levels drop too low.
The rumored “Notification Cooldown” feature may also be integrated into the Watch 4, which restricts the number of notifications you receive in a specified timeframe. However, this feature will not be exclusive to the Watch 4, as it is expected to be available on the Wear OS 6 software.
A rumored “Emergency Satellite Communications” capability also exists, but details remain limited.
