David Dastmalchian Suggests What to Anticipate from His Dexter: Resurrection Serial Killer

David Dastmalchian is quite familiar with playing serial killers, having taken on roles such as Kyle Slade in Syfy’s 12 Monkeys and the real-life murderer Albert DeSalvo in Boston Strangler. Nonetheless, Dastmalchian asserts that his newest role in Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection is “the most enjoyable experience I’ve had portraying a serial killer.”

In an installment of Mashable’s Say More interview series, Dastmalchian provided insight into what viewers can anticipate from his character, Gareth, in Dexter: Resurrection.

“His serial killer title is ‘the Gemini Killer,'” Dastmalchian articulated. “I don’t know if you’re into zodiac signs or astrology, but Gemini signifies duality, and [Gareth] kills individuals in a very distinct manner — occasionally multiple individuals in a particular way, and it’s rather gruesome and horrific.”

Gareth is among the new villains that Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) will face in Dexter: Resurrection, along with characters portrayed by Peter Dinklage and Uma Thurman. Dastmalchian notes that Gareth distinguishes himself from other serial killers.

“I’m very pleased to say that Gareth holds the title of the number one most wanted murderer by the FBI, and he’s the first person to possess a power — which I’ll describe as a secret power — that will pose significant challenges for Dexter Morgan in a manner that hasn’t been experienced on the show until now,” Dastmalchian remarked.

He went on to say: “For me, it presented a fantastic acting challenge because — it’s somewhat of a spoiler that I prefer not to reveal. However, when you tune in and reach the moment of realization about what is truly occurring with Gareth, I like to believe that your mind might be blown.”
