Stephen Colbert and The Daily Show have been addressing the intensifying Donald Trump/Jeffrey Epstein scandal throughout the week. If you’re looking for a recap of the events, Seth Meyers has got you covered.
In the Late Night segment, the host goes over the week’s significant headlines, including the Wall Street Journal’s revelation that Attorney General Pam Bondi alerted Trump that he was referenced in the “Epstein files” back in May, alongside the Trump administration’s failed efforts to redirect attention to other narratives.
“Whatever’s contained in those ‘Epstein files’ must be quite ***ing severe,” Meyers remarks. “They must be uncovering so many references to Trump that they’ll need to rebrand it to ‘The Trump Files Featuring Jeffrey Epstein.'”
The host then plays a clip of CNN anchors analyzing the breaking WSJ story and the importance of Trump’s name reportedly appearing in the files.
“Yes, the context is crucial!” Meyers states. “For instance, perhaps Jeffrey Epstein maintained a list of innocent individuals who did nothing wrong. Epstein had a little black book filled with names titled, ‘People Who Refused to Participate in Sex Trafficking But Still Want to Visit My Island for Snorkeling.'”
