A widely recognized fact is that every new adaptation of Jane Austen draws our interest. We now have our initial glimpse of Netflix’s latest adaptation of Austen’s beloved 1813 novel, Pride and Prejudice, which is presently being filmed in the UK. The image showcases the complete cast lineup of the Bennet sisters and Mrs. Bennet.
Olivia Colman takes on the role of the matriarch of the Bennet family, Mrs. Bennet, famous for her exclamation, “You have no compassion for my poor nerves!”
The Bennet sisters are played by Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, The Crown) as Lizzy Bennet, Freya Mavor (Industry) as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper, Cabaret) as Lydia Bennet, alongside Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery making their debuts as Mary and Kitty Bennet.
Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) assumes the character of Mr. Bennet, the head of the family. Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats, Barbie) portrays the unbearable Mr. Collins, the “dreaded cousin.” Lady Catherine de Bourg is played by Fiona Shaw.
Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery; Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) will be seen as Mr. Bingley. Louis Partridge (House of Guinness, Disclaimer) takes on the role of the charming yet unruly Mr. Wickham.
Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Benediction) is cast as the handsome yet arrogant Mr. Darcy. Lowden has shared his enthusiasm about “breaking down barriers” in portraying a ginger Mr. Darcy.
The six-part limited series is written by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper). Netflix characterizes it as “a faithful, classic adaptation of the novel.”
