Apple TV+ has launched the trailer for an eight-part series set to premiere on August 29, showcasing daring collaborations between prominent Western pop artists and top K-pop bands for bold, cross-genre performances.
Hosted by actor-comedian Soojeong Son (renowned for “Search Party” and “Servant”), the show is led by PSY (celebrated for “Gangnam Style”) and Megan Thee Stallion, who serves as an executive producer alongside Lionel Richie and Korean entertainment tycoon Miky Lee.
Each episode pairs a Western music icon — featuring Megan, Patti LaBelle, Mel B and Emma Bunton from the Spice Girls, Eve, Kylie Minogue, J Balvin, TLC, and Vanilla Ice — with a leading K-pop act, such as ITZY, ATEEZ, STAYC, Billlie, Kep1er, Kiss of Life, BLACKSWAN, and JO1. The goal is to transform a signature track into an energetic, K-pop-infused collaboration in just a matter of days.
Highlighted collaborations include ITZY teaming up with the Spice Girls, bridging two eras of “Wannabe” royalty, alongside ATEEZ working with J Balvin and Kylie Minogue, and a genre-crossing alliance of TLC, Boy George, and STAYC.
A live audience in Seoul determines the victor of each pairing, but in reality, everyone benefits when “Savage” gets a K-pop makeover and “Motownphilly” uncovers a dazzling new beat.
