PS6 Leak Report Suggests Notable Power Boost at Surprising Cost

The launch of the PlayStation 5 in 2020 feels like it was just yesterday, yet a recent leak points to the potential future of PlayStation. YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead, recognized for sharing insights on tech advancements, published a video featuring claims regarding the upcoming PlayStation hardware, derived from a supposed 2023 AMD presentation to Sony. This information should be regarded with skepticism.

If these claims are valid, the PlayStation 6 is expected to deliver nearly three times the 3D rendering capabilities of the PS5, with a consistent price tag of $499. It will be compatible with PS4 and PS5 games, continuing Sony’s trend of backward compatibility. The console may not debut before the fall of 2027.

The leak further indicates that Sony intends to unveil a new gaming handheld alongside the PS6. This device could include a touch screen, microphones, an SSD slot, and haptic feedback, with a price range of $400 to $500, positioning it against the Nintendo Switch 2. If true, Sony’s handheld would boast significant power.

It may even exceed the specifications of the forthcoming Xbox handheld, although its success cannot be assured, as history with the Vita demonstrates.
