Apple Might Unveil App Intents Alongside Improved Siri Next Spring

Apple is preparing to introduce a major AI-enhanced Siri update next year, and it could surpass expectations. Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter at Bloomberg shares insights about App Intents, a current functionality anticipated to undergo a significant enhancement next spring with the debut of the revamped Siri. This upgrade will allow users to give intricate, cross-application commands to Siri through voice.

Illustrations include directing Siri to edit and transmit a certain photo to a specified recipient or logging into an application without using hands.

Nonetheless, this feature remains in internal testing at Apple. Gurman highlights concerns regarding its compatibility with a sufficient number of apps to be effective at launch, and its precision will be critical, as with any AI technology. Apple first revealed these substantial Siri upgrades, which have fallen behind rivals like Gemini, at WWDC in 2024. Delays indicate that the upgrades are unlikely to align with the iPhone 17 release in September.

Hopefully, the introduction of this feature will help avert additional legal obstacles for Apple.
