The Jurassic Park series continues in 2025 with Jurassic World Rebirth — a highly awaited film of the summer. Alongside a new ensemble cast, we’re particularly thrilled about the return of Jurassic Park’s original screenwriter, David Koepp.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One), it features Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as a team of individuals who ought to be more cautious about interacting with dinosaurs. Yet, they pursue the creatures, leading to total mayhem.
Jurassic World Rebirth premiered in theaters on July 2, but if you missed it in cinemas, you can now enjoy it at home. Here’s everything you need to understand.
What is Jurassic World Rebirth about?
Taking place five years after Jurassic World: Dominion, Rebirth centers on an extraction team (Johansson, Bailey, Ali, and Friend) journeying to the original Jurassic Park research facility. Their objective? To obtain DNA from the dinosaurs considered “too hazardous for the park” for a medical progress valued in trillions.

Is Jurassic World Rebirth worth viewing?
The previous two Jurassic Park films — Fallen Kingdom and Dominion — faced significant criticism, including from Mashable’s own critics, despite grossing over a billion dollars. Hence, expectations are relatively low.
For what it’s worth, Mashable film critic Kristy Puchko deems Jurassic World Rebirth “the strongest of the latest batch of films.”
“In summary, Jurassic World Rebirth is a bumpy adventure. Some moments are exhilarating, while others feel tedious. Yet, unlike the characters in this franchise, the people in our reality remain captivated by these magnificent creatures, eager to pay for tickets to get as close as possible to their vast splendor. This film, including its humorously disastrous beginning with its inevitable kill, will satisfy both our desire for thrill and our craving for escapism,” she states in her review, adding, “It’s not superior to the original, but it’s the closest we’ve experienced.”
Like many other Jurassic Park films (excluding the original), it holds a relatively low critic rating overall on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a robust 70+ audience rating. In other words: Viewers are enamored with these on-screen monsters.
