Seth Meyers’ Dog Frisbee, Andy Samberg’s Enduring Adversary, Has the Final Chuckle

Frisbee, the beloved dog of Seth Meyers and the unanticipated adversary of comedian Andy Samberg, passed away this week at the age of 14. Rest in peace to a legend. Even in death, Frisbee managed to deliver the final chuckle — and perhaps one last act of retribution.

Initially, her demise coincided with Samberg’s birthday, completely eclipsing it. Then, Meyers provided a flawless tribute on behalf of his dog. In a post commemorating Frisbee, he reminded everyone of Samberg’s long-held disdain for the dog — and added: “She also had a distaste for him, [for what it’s worth].”

The rivalry between Samberg and Frisbee is lengthy and legendary. We’ve reported on it frequently at Mashable, and almost every time Samberg visited Meyers’ show, it descended into a roasting session of his Italian Greyhound. It was irrational, silly, slightly fabricated, but ultimately sidesplitting. Who could possibly detest a tiny pup like Frisbee? Apparently, Andy Samberg.

His response to a holiday card featuring Frisbee, for example?

“You might as well have sent me anthrax,” Samberg yelled. “LOOK AT THIS PIECE OF SH*T! I had to bring in a cleaning crew ‘cuz of all the barf in my house.”

Or the occasion when he labeled Frisbee “a nightmare-inducing hell-spawn” and a “rat-foreskin hybrid.”

Online, people couldn’t get enough of Samberg’s comical feud with Frisbee — and many quickly shared jokes regarding Frisbee’s ghost perpetually haunting the actor from beyond. The internet overwhelmingly took Frisbee’s side…yet again granting her the final chuckle.

Rest in peace, Frisbee. And we can only envision that somewhere out there, Samberg is glancing over his shoulder for dog ghosts.
