In 2021, Google launched its economical A-series earbuds, which received acclaim for their affordability. Now, Google has revealed the Pixel Buds 2a, priced at $129. These latest earbuds were announced prior to the Made By Google event, where other devices such as the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the Pixel Watch 4 were introduced.
The Pixel Buds 2a, unveiled on Aug. 20, are the inaugural A-series earbuds to include active noise cancellation. While they are $30 above the original Pixel Buds A, they still represent one of the most cost-effective active noise-cancelling choices from a leading brand. As of Aug. 20, they are available for preorder through Google, Amazon, and Best Buy, and will launch on Oct. 9 in two colors: hazel and iris.
Notable features of the Pixel Buds 2a consist of active noise cancellation with Silent Seal 1.5, transparency mode, seven hours of playback with ANC activated, a Tensor A1 chip, an 11mm dynamic speaker driver, stereo spatial audio, a custom equalizer, IP54 water and sweat resistance, a twist-to-adjust stabilizer, and replaceable batteries in the charging case.
Despite the Pixel Buds 2a being priced at $129, which is higher than the $99 Pixel Buds A, they present considerable enhancements like active noise cancellation and extended battery life. Although they are not the least expensive ANC earbuds available, they are competitively priced with major brands such as Sony, Amazon, and Samsung.
The Pixel Buds 2a exhibit a slight reduction in battery longevity compared to pricier Pixel Buds and do not support wireless charging, but they retain a similar design. These earbuds are anticipated to serve as a robust budget-friendly option, with a comprehensive review on the way.
The Pixel Buds 2a will be up for preorder starting Aug. 20 and will officially launch on Oct. 9. They can be preordered from Amazon, Google, and Best Buy.
