Google Pixel 10 vs. Samsung Galaxy S25: Which Smartphone Is Right for You?

The wait is finally over. We have all the information about the Google Pixel 10, so let’s dive into a comparison.

Google revealed everything at its Made by Google event, highlighting specifications and features for its newest flagship smartphones. This comes a few months after Samsung did the same with the Galaxy S25 series. You know what’s coming next.

Indeed, we’re comparing these base models. We’ve just begun testing the new Pixel 10 series, so expect more insights soon.

How do these two Android powerhouses stack up?

Pixel 10 vs. Galaxy S25: Price

This category is clear-cut. Both devices start at $799.

See? That was simple. Let’s move on.

Design

When it comes to design, both devices resemble conventional smartphones. Nevertheless, Google and Samsung have unique visual identities, and the Pixel 10 and Galaxy S25 embody their respective brand aesthetics.

Their rear camera configurations are different. Samsung’s is vertically arranged, featuring three lenses stacked without a boxed camera bump. In contrast, Google’s features three lenses in a horizontal camera bar that prevents the phone from lying flat. It’s a matter of preference, although Google’s camera bar appears more futuristic if that’s what you prefer.

As for color options, Samsung provides a wider array than Google. The Galaxy S25 is offered in seven colors: Navy, Mint, Icy Blue, Silver Shadow, Blueblack, Coralred, and Pinkgold, with the last three being available exclusively online. The Pixel 10, however, has four color options: Indigo, Frost, Lemongrass, and Obsidian.

Specs

Here are the essential specifications for the Google Pixel 10:

– 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2424 and an adaptive refresh rate of 60-120Hz
– Google Tensor G5 chip
– 4,970mAh battery promising over 30 hours of life
– 12GB RAM
– 128GB/256GB storage options

And here are the corresponding specifications for the Galaxy S25:

– 6.2-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2340 and a 120Hz refresh rate
– Snapdragon 8 Elite chip
– 4,000mAh battery
– 12GB RAM
– 128GB/256GB/512GB storage options

Both devices feature comparable displays and RAM. However, they utilize different processors, making it challenging to assess performance and benchmarks until the Pixel 10 is publicly available (we’ve just begun internal testing). Historically, Snapdragon chips have delivered better benchmark results than Tensor, but everyday usability has been similar.

Samsung’s device offers a 512GB storage option for an additional fee, whereas Google does not provide that level of storage on the Pixel 10, despite having its cloud storage service. Battery life will be interesting to track as the Pixel 10 launches, as it boasts a significantly larger battery compared to Samsung’s device. Whether this leads to better battery life remains uncertain, but it’s certainly worth watching.

AI features

Detailing every AI feature on these devices would take ages, but Google’s latest offering is on par with Samsung.

Samsung already had live language translation during calls and a personalized daily hub that includes your schedule, tasks, weather, and news. The Pixel 10 incorporates similar features under different labels. Both devices are compatible with Gemini Live for conversational interactions. Google’s live translation feature samples your voice, a capability that other mobile translation tools currently lack.

Both phones include photo editing and image generation capabilities. Google’s seems more extensive. Each device facilitates generative photo editing by allowing users to highlight objects for movement or to introduce new elements. Unwanted audio can also be removed from videos on both devices.

The Pixel 10 presents text-based photo editing, which is helpful for individuals who articulate edits better than executing them. The Pixel 10’s Camera Coach employs AI to assist users in composing superior photos, though its effectiveness remains to be evaluated. Samsung’s device currently lacks equivalent features.

Overall, Google holds the advantage in AI features, which is not surprising given its AI models. If you opt for the Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL, or Pro Fold, you will receive a complimentary year of Google’s AI Pro plan, which is not available with the base Pixel 10. Thus, if AI is a priority, the Pixel 10 Pro may be a preferable choice.

Cameras

Regarding cameras, Samsung would have had an upper hand had Google not made a notable enhancement to the base Pixel 10 this year. Here are the camera specifications for the Pixel 10:

– Rear cameras: 48MP wide, 13MP ultrawide, 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom and Super Res Zoom up to 20x
– Front camera: 10.5MP

Here’s the comparison with the Galaxy S25:

– Rear cameras: 50MP wide, 10MP ultrawide, 12MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and digital zoom up to 30x
– Front camera: 12MP

While there are slight variations in megapixel counts, these camera setups are quite comparable.
