Andrew Tate Files Lawsuit Against TikTok and Meta for $100 Million Due to Deplatforming

Andrew Tate and his sibling Tristan Tate, recognized as far-right figures, ex-kickboxing champions, and self-identified misogynists, are currently facing accusations of rape, human trafficking, and sexual assault. They are pursuing legal action against Meta and TikTok for the suspension of their social media accounts in 2022. Andrew Tate was first banned from Meta for breaching rules regarding dangerous organizations and individuals. TikTok, along with other platforms, also suspended him for comparable reasons. A TikTok representative remarked that misogyny is unacceptable and that their probe into such material is still underway. The brothers faced a ban from X but were reinstated following Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform. Andrew Tate presently boasts 10.7 million followers there, while Tristan has 3.4 million. Prior to the 2022 bans, they had amassed millions of followers across TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. Recently, they lodged lawsuits in Los Angeles County Superior Court against TikTok and Meta, alleging defamation and illegal deplatforming. The lawsuit contends a coordinated effort to undermine and obliterate their reputations and livelihoods, seeking over $50 million in damages. The filing alleges that Meta operated in a capacity akin to a state actor alongside government officials and media personnel. Meta and TikTok did not reply to Mashable’s request for comments. The lawsuits do not refer to YouTube, but the brothers were also banned there in 2022.
