Some time has passed, but Google is finally preparing to roll out new Nest products. Android Headlines has exclusively revealed several upcoming Google Nest items anticipated to launch “very soon,” although a specific release date was not disclosed. These include a revamped smart speaker, both indoor and outdoor security cameras, and a video doorbell. This is noteworthy as Google hasn’t introduced any new Nest products since 2021, which may have led some to believe the brand was dormant.
As per Android Headlines, the latest Google Home Speaker mirrors earlier Nest speakers but operates on Gemini rather than Google Assistant.
There’s a new Nest Cam Indoor designed for home surveillance, featuring an upgrade from 1080p to 2K resolution for enhanced clarity. It can focus on particular areas and crop video as necessary. Importantly, the camera can retain up to an hour of footage locally in the event of internet outages. It is anticipated to be compatible with Gemini, similar to the new Nest Cam Outdoor.
The outdoor camera also benefits from the same resolution enhancement, zoom and crop functionalities, and local storage capability. It’s akin to the indoor version but tailored for external use. Additionally, a new Nest wired doorbell camera will incorporate all these features. Moreover, all these camera-equipped devices will include Daily Summaries, a Gemini-powered feature that offers a summary of the day’s happenings.
A four-year interval between product updates is considerable, but this refresh seems to be quite substantial.
