Here’s a small secret: Content doesn’t have to be intricate to resonate.
I’m Ty Cole, a content strategist, acclaimed journalist, and creative producer. Often, I’m working alone with merely my phone, a ring light, and the natural illumination of golden hour. Have you noticed my skin in some of my content? Impeccable—thank you, Mom and Dad.
My methodology is purposeful yet not overpowering. I maximize what I possess (shoutout to Aries queen Mariah Carey). If you’re aware, you’re aware, and I make it successful for me.
The equipment
A solid selfie stand? Total game changer. Recently, I incorporated a phone holder to try different angles, and it’s just right. I can film an entire segment by myself, capture multiple shots, and still arrive at an event.
I strive to produce content that is neat, straightforward, and sharp, even without a ring light. Ideal natural light and understanding your angles are essential. For me, golden hour—just after sunrise or right before sunset—is perfect when the sun is gentle, warm, and complimentary.
If I miss that enchanting hour, I optimize what I have. I turn towards a window, steer clear of overhead lighting, and assess how the light plays on camera before recording. It’s about utilizing the light available and adapting as needed.
In the creative process, sometimes it’s a script, other times it’s just the vibe. I may hop onto a TikTok trend with an engaging voiceover or share a spontaneous thought from 2 AM that resonates come morning.
In my feed, I offer a glimpse into access—the fun, the exclusive, the behind-the-scenes of Hollywood. I share pictures with celebrities and videos of us cherishing genuine moments. Nothing feels contrived. Whether at a premiere or a party, I make sure the content captures the feeling of being right there with me.
Sometimes I enhance the video with music, other times with a voiceover. Regardless, I want the visuals and captions to convey a complete narrative. Something enjoyable, authentic, and that gives you the sensation of being alongside me.
It may seem effortless, but that’s due to my ability to make it appear that way. It’s low effort but highly strategic. It’s akin to being a DIY director, editor, and talent all rolled into one. And rest assured, I’m going to deliver an amazing show every single time.
