From *Good Will Hunting* and *School Ties* to *Air* and *The Last Duel*, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck remain one of Hollywood’s most resilient pairs. Now, they come together again in Netflix’s crime thriller *The Rip*.
Created and helmed by Joe Carnahan (*The A-Team*, *The Grey*), *The Rip* showcases Damon and Affleck as officers of the Miami PD. Their squad mainly targets drug operations, but the majority of their efforts are concentrated on cash confiscations. This leads them to an abandoned stash house during their latest case, where they discover more than they expected.
As the teaser for *The Rip* reveals, Damon and Affleck’s squad heads to the residence on a lead regarding $300,000. Instead, they uncover $20 million. Complications arise rapidly when an enigmatic caller threatens the police, demanding they vacate within 30 minutes to prevent any injuries. With such a significant amount of money on the line, the team is not prepared to surrender easily.
With outside forces encroaching on the cash, Damon and Affleck’s unit will reassess everything, including their trust in one another. Teammates’ banter about taking the money and fleeing starts to feel more like indicators of potential treachery.
Alongside Damon and Affleck, *The Rip* boasts an impressive ensemble, featuring Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler.
*The Rip* premieres on Netflix on Jan. 16.
