Amazon is said to be working on two separate AR smart glasses. A report from The Information indicates that these two AR devices are aimed at different demographics. The AR glasses, codenamed Jayhawk and Amelia, are designed for consumers and delivery personnel, respectively. Amazon is partnering with the China-based augmented reality firm Meta-Bounds for this initiative. Jayhawk, tailored for consumers, will include a full-color display in one lens, along with microphones, speakers, and a camera. Amelia, targeted at delivery drivers, aims to minimize travel time. Both eyewear will utilize similar core technology, but only the consumer model will feature a full-color display and will be “more streamlined and less cumbersome” than the version for delivery drivers. Amazon expects to roll out Jayhawk in late 2026 or early 2027, while Amelia may be ready for delivery drivers by the second quarter of next year. Augmented reality smart glasses are becoming increasingly popular in tech hardware, with products from brands like Meta and XReal arriving on the scene. Currently, Amazon offers Echo Frames, audio smart glasses that let users listen to music, make calls, and interact with Alexa, but they do not include an AR display. The effect of Amazon’s AR glasses on the market and their potential to become a mainstream product is yet to be determined.
