Gmail includes a handy feature for monitoring deliveries that you may have noticed. At the top of the inbox, Google shows packages anticipated to arrive within the upcoming 24 hours, which is beneficial for those who often forget. This week, Google announced an upgrade to this feature by adding a new section where all your online purchases can be viewed, no matter their shipping status.
“We’re launching a new view that consolidates all your purchase and delivery updates into one spot,” said Chris Doan, Gmail’s Director, in a blog post. “This will provide you with an overview of all your forthcoming package deliveries in one straightforward, organized list.”
The feature is simple to use. Once the update is available for you, you can navigate to the left-side menu and locate the new “Purchases” section. Selecting this section will present only emails connected to your purchases and package shipments. From there, you can examine each purchase or shipment as necessary without overwhelming your inbox.
Google indicated that the current package tracking capabilities will continue to exist, including the one that highlights packages at the top of the inbox if they are slated for delivery within the next 24 hours.
Moreover, Google is refreshing its Promotions category in Gmail. This slight update permits users to sort by “most relevant” promotional emails. While Google doesn’t explicitly mention it, “most relevant” likely suggests that the brands you engage with most often in your inbox will receive higher priority, while others will be ranked further down.
