View All the Latest Trailers from Nintendo Direct September 2025: Super Mario Galaxy, Yoshi, and Mortal Kombat Legacy

Happy Friday, gamers! Nintendo has revealed a ton of new games and shared trailers for previously announced titles. We even got a sneak peek at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the follow-up to the beloved animated Mario film from 2023. (Recall “Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches”? Of course you do.)

During a 60-minute Nintendo Direct livestream on Friday morning, the company presented a significant array of new games coming to Nintendo Switch and, primarily, Switch 2.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The Direct commenced with around 10 minutes of Mario news since it’s the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. Unsurprisingly, the video game stream kicked off with a movie trailer. The sequel to the hit Super Mario Bros. movie is heading to space, drawing inspiration from two of the greatest 3D Mario platformers of all time. The film is set to release in Spring 2026.

Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 for Switch

Those two fantastic 3D platformers that inspired the film are also making their way to Switch. Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be available separately for $40 each, playable on either a Switch 1 or Switch 2. These are truly charming games, and I would strongly suggest giving them a try, especially if you or your little ones haven’t experienced them yet. They’re excellent for kids. The release date is Oct. 2.

Mario Tennis Fever

The first new game announcement in the presentation was Mario Tennis Fever, the latest installment in a long line of mostly very entertaining arcade sports games featuring Mario and friends. This one appears to offer some exciting new features, such as special rackets that create quirky effects like freezing the opponent’s side of the court. It also has a story mode where all characters have been transformed into babies and must relearn how to play tennis. Sounds fun! This one is launching on Feb. 12.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

The latest major Mario platformer, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, will receive a paid Switch 2 upgrade next spring. The trailer highlighted party game-style multiplayer modes while also teasing new levels. More details on this aspect are expected to arrive soon.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

Also set for next spring is Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, a new title starring everyone’s favorite green egg-laying dinosaur. It sports a charming storybook art style, and the gameplay appears to focus on exploring intriguing little systemic interactions within vibrant worlds. From the trailer, it looks like it will be enjoyable for children.

Storm Lancers

Storm Lancers is a cartoonish, fast-paced co-op roguelike game that seems quite chaotic and entertaining. If it piques your interest at all, I’ve got good news: It’s available today!

Dinkum

Do you enjoy Stardew Valley? Have you ever wished it had an Australian twist? It appears that’s precisely what Dinkum offers. Set to launch on Nov. 5, it’s sure to satisfy those who just want to manage a little farm with kangaroos hopping about.

Popucom

Popucom is an adorable-looking 3D co-op game centered on shooting colorful orbs to solve puzzles. It is multiplayer-only and will be available this winter.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Debuting in spring 2026, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is somewhat hard to describe. You create Miis based on yourself, family, friends, or anyone you choose, and they coexist on an island. They communicate using unsettling robotic voice synthesis, which adds to the appeal. There isn’t a central objective or way to “win” Tomodachi Life; it’s more of an experience you check in on occasionally.

Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection

This collection of classic 2D and early 3D Mortal Kombat games features accurate emulation and impressive interactive documentaries showcasing old recording session footage and fresh interviews with some of the original MK creators. If you’re a Mortal Kombat fan, it would be wise to grab this on Oct. 30.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade

Final Fantasy VII Remake was an outstanding title upon its PS4 release in 2020, and it will likely maintain that excellence when it arrives on Switch 2, complete with the Intergrade side story that debuted with the PS5 version of the game, on Jan. 22.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark

Lynked has a sort of Saturday morning cartoon ambiance that complements its top-down action RPG mechanics. It also appears to incorporate some life simulation elements, making it a little bit appealing for everyone. It’s available right now, too.

Hades II

Hades was an exceptional video game. Hades II looks quite promising.
