Jimmy Kimmel Condemns Trump’s Response to Charlie Kirk Shooting

Jimmy Kimmel, similar to Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert, kicked off his Thursday night show by talking about the shooting involving far-right figure Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, recognized for endorsing right-wing values on educational campuses. Kirk had built a massive social media presence, with followers in the tens of millions, and was a strong supporter of President Trump.

During the segment, Kimmel discusses the shooting and decries the “remarkably despicable reactions” from both sides of the political spectrum, emphasizing Trump’s remarks regarding the “radical left.”

“You would assume that with all these horrific events occurring, our president would at least try to unite us, but he did not,” Kimmel asserts. “Instead, he placed the blame on Democrats for their rhetoric. The same person who suggested that ‘perhaps the second amendment people should act against Hillary Clinton,’ who mentioned he wouldn’t object if someone opened fire on the fake news media, who incited a mob at the Capitol, and who recommended that Liz Cheney should face nine barrels aimed at her for backing his rival, puts the blame on the radical left for their rhetoric.”
