The Housemaid Trailer: Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried Battle it Out to a Thrilling Sabrina Carpenter Song

Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney are hiding dark secrets in the teaser for the forthcoming thriller, The Housemaid.

Adapted from Freida McFadden’s popular novel, The Housemaid is helmed by Paul Feig. Feig has a knack for crafting twisted narratives with two leading actresses, having directed 2018’s A Simple Favor with Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, as well as its 2025 sequel, Another Simple Favor.

In The Housemaid, Sweeney portrays Millie, a young woman striving to flee her troubled history. She discovers a possible sanctuary with the wealthy Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried), who hires Millie as her family’s live-in maid.

Initially, the Winchesters — which include Nina’s spouse, Andrew (Drop’s Brandon Sklenar), and their little daughter — seem to represent an ideal family. Yet, something eerie is clearly hidden beneath the facade. Why does Nina possess a dollhouse model of her own residence, complete with a miniature doll of Millie? Why does the teaser depict Nina clutching a bloody shard of mirror while grinning unsettlingly? What’s truly unfolding behind the closed doors of the Winchester home?

Millie also appears to harbor secrets, dropping her nice girl persona and rolling her eyes once she’s out of Nina’s view.

The Housemaid premieres in theaters on Dec. 19.
