Have you ever seen a zombie film and felt it could use more drag queens? If so, IFC’s upcoming queer horror comedy *Queens of the Dead* may be just what you need.
This film is the inaugural feature of director Tina Romero, who is the daughter of *Night of the Living Dead* director and zombie legend George A. Romero. Tina Romero collaborated with Erin Judge in writing the screenplay.
*Queens of the Dead* showcases Katy O’Brian (*Love Lies Bleeding*) in the role of Dre, a DJ and drag producer determined to throw an unforgettable Bushwick warehouse party that people would literally die to go to. This soon becomes a frightening reality when zombies invade the event, endangering the blend of drag queens and club kids. Will Dre and her friends make it through the zombie apocalypse?
Joining O’Brian, the cast of *Queens of the Dead* includes an ensemble of queer film and TV talents like Margaret Cho, Tony nominee and *Mean Girls* star Jaquel Spivey, *I Saw the TV Glow*’s Jack Haven, *Fire Island*’s Tomás Matos, *RuPaul’s Drag Race* alum Nina West, and *Pose*’s Dominique Jackson.
Check out the full trailer above for a sneak peek at the dazzling mayhem and zombie confrontations that *Queens of the Dead* has to offer. (I’m particularly excited to see Cho fend off zombies with a drill.) The film made its debut at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, where it received the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.
*Queens of the Dead* will be released in theaters on Oct. 24.
