Stephen King Addresses Jimmy Kimmel’s Suspension with a Note for ABC

Stephen King has momentarily halted his regular endeavors of criticizing Donald Trump on social media and assessing horror films to weigh in on Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension by ABC. The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a persistent Trump adversary, was removed from the airwaves after remarks made during Monday’s broadcast regarding Republicans’ responses to the shooting of Charlie Kirk. While Trump, who has been advocating for Kimmel’s dismissal for years, reveled in the outcome, numerous celebrities and fellow late-night hosts swiftly rallied to support Kimmel.

King has now added his voice to their support. “Don’t anticipate corporations (looking at you, ABC) to act ethically,” the horror novelist expressed on X on Thursday. “Companies prioritize one thing: profit$. If you want Jimmy Kimmel back, you must raise your voice loudly.”

Kimmel’s suspension came after backlash from Trump associate and FCC chair Brendan Carr, who threatened to penalize ABC and its parent firm Disney. Television station owner Nexstar Media then decided against airing Kimmel’s program, prompting ABC to “indefinitely suspend” Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday.
