What is Connections Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game, launched in partnership with The Athletic, a New York Times sports journalism entity, is accessible on web browsers and mobile devices. Connections challenges players to categorize four words based on a shared connection.

Every puzzle comprises 16 words categorized into four groups. These groups might encompass anything from book titles to software or country names. Although many words may appear to belong together, there is only one valid answer.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a group, those words are eliminated from the board. Incorrect answers are counted as errors—players are allowed to make up to four errors before the game concludes.

Participants can rearrange and shuffle the board to discern connections more effectively. Each group is color-coded: yellow is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, results can be posted on social media.
