TikTok Parody “Mad at Disney” Expresses Discontent Regarding Kimmel’s Suspension

As tensions escalate towards Disney, its long-time detractor Salem Ilese has shared her perspective. Ilese launched a parody of her TikTok sensation “Mad at Disney” to express her discontent with Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, modifying the lyrics to advocate for free speech.

“I am still mad at Disney, and for a different reason this time,” Ilese mentioned in a TikTok clip shared on Monday.

Ilese’s original 2020 track conveyed disappointment with the romantic ideals influenced by Disney movies. In her latest TikTok video, she revised the initial chorus and pre-chorus of “Mad at Disney” to comment on Kimmel’s predicament.

“I’m mad at Disney, Disney / They cancelled Jimmy / All for exercising his free speech / Fox News can say whatever / To make Trump look better / But one strike and Kimmel’s off TV,” Ilese performed in the 30-second clip. “First Colbert had to call it quits / Guess talking ’bout politics / Is only okay if Trump is flattered.”

Disney’s ABC pulled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from air last Wednesday due to FCC threats, sparking worries about free speech. The Trump administration reacted negatively to Kimmel’s remarks on Charlie Kirk’s death, prompting FCC chairman Brendan Carr to insist ABC act against Kimmel or jeopardize its broadcasting license.

Numerous individuals criticized Kimmel’s suspension, including fellow late-night hosts and celebrities. Some Disney+ and Hulu subscribers even canceled their memberships in protest. Although Kimmel returned on Tuesday, many remain resentful about his initial removal.

Ilese is among those who are still dissatisfied with Disney due to Kimmel’s suspension. She shared a second “Mad at Disney” parody prior to Kimmel’s comeback, alleging that Disney only brought him back after subscription cancellations impacted their revenue.

“I’m mad at Disney, Disney / They brought back Jimmy / Only ’cause they couldn’t take the heat / It took an open letter / And upset investors / To stand up against the FCC,” sang Ilese. “But we posted and unsubscribed / And showed them that we decide / We’ll stay impossible to silence.”

“Kissing my dream of being cast as Rapunzel goodbye after this one,” Ilese wrote.
