What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT’s newest daily word game, introduced with The Athletic, the New York Times sports section, can be accessed via web browsers and mobile devices. Players must categorize four words that share a commonality.

Every puzzle features 16 words split into four categories. These groups can include book titles, software, country names, etc. Although several words might appear to align, there is only one accurate solution.

If a player successfully groups all four words, they are taken off the board. An incorrect guess is counted as a mistake — players have a maximum of four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players are allowed to reorganize and shuffle the board to make connections easier. Each group is color-coded: yellow signifies the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Just like Wordle, results can be shared on social platforms.
