Paul Thomas Anderson’s newest film, *One Battle After Another*, is poised to be a significant point of conversation this year. Inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s novel *Vineland*, it is creating substantial excitement leading up to its premiere on Sept. 26. This film represents Anderson’s inaugural partnership with Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro, and many of the gifted cast members are collaborating with him for the first time. Importantly, *One Battle* marks Chase Infiniti’s first foray into a feature film.
Mashable journalist Ty Cole spoke with many cast members, including DiCaprio, del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and the remarkable Infiniti, regarding their experiences in making the film.
DiCaprio detailed the film’s storyline: “It centers around an unforeseen, complex protagonist whose history weighs on him as he attempts to raise a daughter. He is striving to bond with her… You observe him getting high, watching television, disputing with his daughter, and then his political beliefs and history catch up with him, but he can’t recall the password to rescue his only child.”
Taylor, when inquired about handling a machine gun while sporting a large pregnant belly, remarked, “I could rest my weapon on the belly and feel like Tony Montana!” She noted that the belly was notably advanced. “[Paul] wanted me to genuinely feel pregnant, so the belly was substantial… We scanned my whole body to create it. The stomach was certainly high-tech.”
Infiniti conveyed what she gained from the seasoned cast: “The film taught me to have more faith in myself. As an actor, trusting yourself and those around you who have your back is essential. During filming, I recognized that I could rely on myself more and stretch my boundaries in ways I had never envisioned.”
When asked about a conflict he’s weary of battling, DiCaprio responded, “Our failure to communicate with each other.”
*One Battle After Another* will be released in theaters on VistaVision, 70mm film, and IMAX across the country on Sept. 26, 2025.
