What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game is released in collaboration with The Athletic, the sports reporting branch of the New York Times. Connections is playable on web browsers and mobile devices, asking players to categorize four words that have a shared characteristic.

Every puzzle contains 16 words broken down into four groups. These groups can range from book titles to software or country names. Although multiple words might appear to fit together, there is only one correct solution.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a group, those words are eliminated from the board. Incorrect guesses are counted as mistakes — players are permitted up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players may also rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate finding connections. Furthermore, each category is color-coded, with yellow representing the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your outcomes with friends on social media.
