What is Connections?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game has turned into a sensation on social media. The Times attributes the creation of this new word game to associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, who facilitated its introduction into the publication’s Games section. Connections can be enjoyed on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words that share a commonality.

Today’s NYT Connections puzzle should be straightforward for avid football fans.

Every puzzle includes 16 words, categorized into four distinct groups. These groups may consist of anything from book titles, software, country names, and more. Even if several words appear to fit together, there is only one accurate grouping.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are cleared from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake—players are permitted up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players are also able to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate the detection of connections. Moreover, each group is color-coded, with yellow representing the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results on social media with friends.
