According to data from Similarweb, a prominent web analytics company, Threads is nearing X in terms of mobile user count. The Twitter alternative created by Meta is reportedly experiencing consistent growth and seems to be attracting users away from Elon Musk’s platform.
A graph shared by Similarweb indicates that Threads is gradually boosting its daily active users on both iOS and Android. The data implies that Threads has achieved parity with X—approximately 130 million daily active users—and is poised to exceed it globally within days.
However, it is important to note that X still greatly outnumbers Threads in web traffic, as per Similarweb.
All this data aligns, especially considering that a significant share of Threads’ traffic likely originates from users navigating through the Instagram app. Being integrated within Meta’s larger ecosystem has evidently been a substantial — though not surprising — catalyst for growth. In August, Threads declared that it had reached 400 million monthly active users.
Conversely, X has long been ingrained in users’ daily web routines, albeit under its previous name. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that a larger portion of its traffic stems from desktop usage.
Nonetheless, the revelation that Threads has reportedly matched X represents a significant benchmark. This transition had been expected since earlier this summer — and now, according to Similarweb, it seems to have taken place.
