Modder Allows New Lego Game Boy to Run Authentic Games

Forget about the Nintendo Switch 2. Someone has come up with a more innovative method to enjoy handheld Nintendo games in 2025.

Lego has officially released its Nintendo Game Boy model kit, inspired by the legendary early 90s handheld console. We have been looking forward to this launch since July.

For $59.99, you can relive your childhood and possibly pass it on to your kids. But what if you could truly play Game Boy games on it? According to IGN, someone has already done that.

A modder named Natalie the Nerd successfully got the Lego Game Boy to run genuine Game Boy games. You can discover her process, including the technical specifics, on her blog.

This isn’t something just anyone can accomplish at home. It required 3D printing custom components and crafting a unique circuit board to function. It’s the creation of a talented and remarkable person. She even managed to pull it off without resorting to emulation; it’s real.

She intends to keep enhancing it and will eventually share comprehensive plans for others who might want to tackle the project.

If nothing else, it’s a fantastic way to enjoy Tetris.
