The creative team behind Drive-Away Dolls returns with another lesbian crime narrative featuring Margaret Qualley. Honey Don’t!, directed by Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, is a dark comedy centering around a mysterious church and a small-town investigator in click-clacking heels. The film also features Charlie Day, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Evans.
One of the summer’s highly anticipated films, Honey Don’t! has officially become available for streaming as of Oct. 3. If you missed it at theaters, here’s everything you need to know to watch from home.
What is Honey Don’t! about?
Honey Don’t! tracks Honey O’Donahue, a small-town private detective, as she delves into a dubious car accident. Throughout the investigation, she encounters a battered police detective (Charlie Day), a grumpy local officer (Aubrey Plaza), and a narcissistic cult leader (Chris Evans). “It’s a thrilling journey full of twists, intimacy, and homicide!” writes Mashable film critic, Kristy Puchko, in her review.

Is Honey Don’t! worth a watch?
Honey Don’t! has grossed just over $7 million at the worldwide box office against a reported budget of $20 million. Simply put, it isn’t a box office triumph. Reviews have been largely negative, with both critics and audiences rating it below 50 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it’s not all doom and gloom.
The impressive cast of Honey Don’t! is reason enough to take a look. Mashable’s reviewer highlighted Qualley’s “stellar” and Evans’ comedic talents in particular. She also states that the screenplay is “a raw and invigorating caper.”
“Honey Don’t! presents a blend of sweetness and wildness, with promise for more. And I’m not upset about that,” Puchko mentions in her review.
