Gmail Business Users Are Now Able to Send Secure Encrypted Emails to Anyone

Google has rolled out a new cybersecurity capability for Gmail business users. As highlighted in a company blog entry, business Gmail users can now transmit end-to-end encrypted emails to anyone, regardless of the email service they use. Users just need to choose “Additional encryption” while drafting their message, and Gmail manages the rest.

“This feature, which requires minimal effort from both IT teams and end users, simplifies the traditional IT complexities and inadequate user experiences of existing solutions, while maintaining improved data sovereignty, privacy, and security measures,” the blog entry noted.

The procedure is fascinating. As explained by BleepingComputer, Google encrypts the message on the client side prior to transmitting it to the cloud, ensuring that only the designated recipient can access it. This method adheres to various data protection regulations. If the recipient does not utilize Gmail, they will receive a link to access a limited version of Gmail as a temporary guest user to view the message.

Be sure to activate this feature before sending sensitive corporate emails.
