My Secret Santa Teaser: A Flip on Mrs. Doubtfire

For an extended period, the role of Santa during the holidays has been perceived as a male responsibility. That changes with *My Secret Santa*. Alexandra Breckenridge assumes the role of the jolly gift-giver in red in this eccentric Netflix romantic comedy, which opens its trailer by referencing *Mrs. Doubtfire*.

In the cherished Robin Williams movie, a father of three seeks to bond more with his children — while managing his finances — by transforming himself into a nurturing, British nanny named Euphegenia Doubtfire. In *My Secret Santa*, writers Carley Smale and Ron Oliver give a gender-swapping twist on this narrative infused with a festive spirit for a revitalized interpretation.

When a single mother (Breckenridge) requires additional funds to purchase her teenage daughter the gift she longs for, she discovers the ideal solution: becoming a Santa at a high-end ski resort. With the assistance of prosthetic makeup, a white wig and beard, along with a seasonal makeover, she is ready to engage with crowds of children and parents to make her holiday dreams come true. Nevertheless, she does not expect a charming bachelor to capture her interest and complicate her extraordinary double life.

Directed by Mike Rohl, renowned for the *The Princess Switch* trilogy, *My Secret Santa* promises to delight fans of holiday romantic comedies — especially those who appreciated *Mrs. Doubtfire* and the whimsical romance in Disney’s *Mulan*. Ryan Eggold, Tia Mowry, Madison MacIsaac, and Diana Maria Riva join the cast of this enchanting film, which will be released soon.

*My Secret Santa* premieres on Netflix on Dec. 3.
