What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s most recent daily word game, in collaboration with The Athletic, challenges sports knowledge. Connections is accessible via web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to group four words that share a common connection.

Each puzzle features 16 words categorized into four groups. These groups may include book titles, software, names of countries, etc. Although many words might appear related, there is only one accurate answer.

When a player successfully groups all four words, they are eliminated from the board. Incorrect attempts are counted as errors — players can have up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to identify connections more effortlessly. Each group is assigned a color code, with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, results can be shared on social media platforms.
