What is Connections?

The latest daily word challenge from NYT has become a sensation on social media. The Times acknowledges associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu for contributing to the creation of this game. Connections can be played on browsers and mobile devices, requiring users to group four words by a common theme.

Every puzzle features 16 words distributed across four categories. These groups can contain anything from book titles to software or country names. Even though several words may seem to connect, only one grouping is correct.

When a player successfully arranges all four words, they are eliminated from the board. An incorrect guess is counted as a mistake, and players can make up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to detect connections more effectively. Each category is color-coded: yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, results can be shared with friends on social media.
